Financial Services Use Case #2:
Brokerage Firm
Users: A leading Brokerage Firm and its high net worth customers. Around 2,500 initial clients (plus a smaller number of staff users) with the potential to expand far beyond.
Background: A major Brokerage Firm is facing increased competition from investment banks and other brokerage companies to attract large investment accounts from high net worth investors. After conducting a market survey of its clients and potential customers, the Firm has concluded that security and privacy are of primary concern to high net worth investors and believes its competitors are vulnerable to a marketing campaign that is based on security and privacy. As a part of its marketing research, the Firm also learned that giving these high net worth clients a physical device such as a biometrically secured USB stick drive will enhance the program both by acting as an exclusive key and as a continuous reminder that the customer's security and privacy are of primary importance to the Brokerage Firm.
The proposed marketing campaign is a significant expense to the Brokerage Firm so the success of the security and privacy solution is critical. More important, the Firm's public image will be defined by the success of the program. The Firm believes it can drive a significant increase in its total investment portfolio through this campaign. Conversely, a solution that does not meet client expectations or public perceptions will significantly harm the Firm.
Challenge: Provide a security and privacy solution that minimizes exposure to all forms of attack, including sniffing packets, phishing, spoofing, keystroke logging or simply password guessing. The solution must be extremely easy to use for both the Firm's relationship managers and its clients. The solution must also be dynamically scalable, allowing the full range of customer functions and features expected by a large, demanding audience. The solution must ride on top of the existing easy-to-use account management system. And, of course, the solution must present a level of security and privacy that cannot be exceeded by the competition now or in the future.
Objective: To present a high-visibility, easy-to-use, scalable, unbreakable authentication and encryption solution that will stand the test of time.
Solution: AlphaCipher--iAptus
AlphaCipher--iAptus is an authentication and encryption tool designed to work across public networks to provide point-to-point single source secure access to sensitive information. Using the point-to-point Digital OTP encryption, the username and password are encrypted then sent to the web server. Only the legitimate web site has the key to decrypt the message so only the legitimate website can accept a properly encrypted authentication attempt. Thus, even if a spoofing or phishing website acquires a valid username and password hackers will still not be authenticated by the Firm's system.
After authentication, AlphaCipher--iAptus encrypts all data transmitted to the Firm's servers or returned by them. Only clients who have authorized key on their personal security device can gain access to the information even if all other authentication and authorization protections fail. At the same time, Management has full control over the distribution and authorization associated with that key.
Total funds under management, assuming $1,000,000 per client: $2,500,000,000
Cost for unbreakable authentication and encryption: < $1,000,000
