Vadium Technology Inc. Appoints Jose Antonio Rios to its Board of Advisors
TACOMA, WA – September 18, 2007 – Vadium Technology, Inc. the leading provider of easy to use, unbreakable data encryption solutions is pleased to announce the appointment of Jose Antonio Rios, to the company’s Board of Advisors
Mr. Rios is a proven leader in the telecommunications, media and entertainment industries. He brings more than 30 years of international experience and leadership to Vadium and in his career has worked in senior executive capacities at such leading multi-national corporations as Global Crossings, Telefonica, S.A., Hughes Electronics and the Cisneros Group. Mr. Rios recently retired as International President of Global Crossing, where he led operations in more than 20 countries throughout Europe, Latin America and Asia. In addition to his role as International President, Mr. Rios served as the company’s chief administrative officer and as chairman of the boards of Global Crossing Latin America and Global Crossing UK.
Prior to joining Global Crossing in 2001, Mr. Ríos served as president and CEO of Telefónica Media and chairman of Atento where he played a major role in the successful Terra/Lycos deal that created the world's third largest Internet portal, and incorporated the Bertelsmann Group. Mr. Ríos was one of seven members of the corporate executive committee of Telefónica S.A. and a corporate general director. Additionally, Mr. Ríos served as the founding president and chief executive officer of DIRECTV™ Latin America, where he was responsible for the planning, development, and launch of DIRECTV, a pioneer in digital direct-to-home satellite television entertainment in Latin America, with more than 1.6 million subscribers in 27 countries. During his four-year tenure, he was also vice president of Hughes Electronics and a permanent member of that company's management committee.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Ríos served as the chief operating officer and corporate vice president of the Cisneros Group of Companies for 13 years. He was a founding member of its Global Executive Committee, where together with Gustavo and Ricardo Cisneros, Mr. Ríos led the globalization of the Cisneros Group, which, today is ranked by Forbes Magazine as one of the largest private enterprises in the world.
Mr. Ríos serves on several corporate, industry and philanthropic boards. Currently, he is a director on the board of Claxson Interactive Group Inc., where he also serves as chairman of the audit and compensation committees. He also served as chairman of the supervisory board of Endemol Entertainment, one of the world's leading entertainment production companies, based in Holland and with operations in 28 countries. Mr. Ríos is a director of the prestigious Fundación País Digital (Digital Nation Foundation), a Chilean organization founded by Agustin Edwards, owner and publisher of the leading Chilean daily newspaper "El Mercurio." Fundación País Digital is dedicated to promoting "digital culture" and technology in Chile and throughout Latin America. In addition, Mr. Ríos serves as a board member of the Inter-American Dialogue's Latin America Advisor. The Advisor serves a unique membership of top public- and private-sector officials invested in Latin America's development and future.
