Initiative to support Multi-Agency Coordination and Interoperability
TACOMA, WA and Arklow, County Wicklow, IRELAND– September 11, 2007 –

software applications and technology management services, today announced a new
initiative targeted to meet critical inter-agency communication challenges faced by
today’s first responders and military forces.

Today, most secure communications solutions rely on a combination of hardware security and
math-based encryption solutions to protect private communications. While these systems may
lead to secure communication within an organization, the lack of a common security protocol has
made it difficult for one agency or organization to share information with another. The solutions
adopted by one organization are simply incompatible with other solutions, and the cost to achieve
interoperability has been prohibitive.
Working together, Vadium and Howe Systems will be able to deliver configured solutions that
compliment existing secure communications investments. In some circumstances, the solution
may be one of Vadium’s AlphaCipher packaged solutions. In others, the ideal solution may
involve custom applications built around the AlphaCipher Software Developers Kit. All
solutions are designed to operate over public networks using Vadium’s patent-pending
AlphaCipher Digital One-Time Pad encryption solution.
